What does folic acid do?
Folic acid is required for normal cell division including protein metabolism, the formation of DNA and neurotransmitters. In addition, folic acid plays a role in healthy birth outcomes.
What are DHA and EPA?
DHA and EPa are omega 3 essential fatty acids that play important roles in the development of our bodies. DHA is an essential component of the brain and eyes and is important for healthy visual and mental development in utero and through infancy. Studies show that EPA may help with the transport of DHA across the placenta.
What do we mean by the DHA to EPA ratio? And why is that important?
Centrum Specialist® Prenatal provides approximately 40mg of EPA and 200mg of DHA. This is a ratio of approximately 1:5mg EPA. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) suggests women take 200 to 300mg of DHA per day during pregnancy and breastfeeding. While there is currently no recommended daily allowance of EPA, the International Society for the Study of Fatty Acids and Lipids (ISSFAL) advises that supplemental levels of EPA do not exceed DHA.
What do lutein and zeaxanthin do?
The carotenoids, lutein (10mg) and zeaxanthin (2mg), concentrate in the macular area of the eye and can protect against oxidative stress.
How do vitamins A, C, E and zinc support my vision health?
These nutrients are known to play a role in maintaining eye health and structure along with having antioxidant properties and support vision sharpness, acuity, and healthy eyes as you age.

No, Centrum® has the same great formulas and continues to be backed by the latest nutritional science, just with a new packaging look and new name on the Adult products.
Do Centrum® vitamins contain fiber?
Centrum® vitamins contain a negligible amount of fiber to serve as a binder/filler for the tablets, rather than acting as a dietary fiber supplement. Centrum® multivitamins are currently not formulated to be a source of dietary fiber.
Do Centrum® vitamins contain Gluten?
We do not directly add any gluten to our products, however, we cannot guarantee that all raw materials are 100% gluten-free.
If I am lactose-intolerant, can I take Centrum®?
Centrum® contains an insignificant amount of lactose. Lactose intolerant individuals can usually tolerate small quantities of lactose. If you have any doubt or additional question, consult a physician.
