6 Tips for an Easy Daily Vitamin Regimen

Fitting a multivitamin or vitamin supplement into your daily routine can be easy and quick. It's not very complicated at all, but there are a few tips that can help you build a vitamin regimen to follow every day. Simply follow these six guidelines to create your daily vitamin routine.

1. Choose the right vitamins

The first step into creating your perfect vitamin regimen is to pick the right vitamins for you, your lifestyle and medical needs. Most multivitamins are balanced for everyday use, but dedicated supplements of just one vitamin may require advice from your doctor. Either way, talk to your doctor about any medications you currently take, what nutrients you may have gaps in and how to take vitamins to best meet your needs.

2. Schedule when you take vitamins

To create a vitamin regimen, decide what time of day to take your vitamins that's best for you. Some people may choose to take their vitamins in the morning, where others prefer to take them at night. Choose the time of day that's best for you and your lifestyle.

3. Take them at the same time each day

Another tip for your daily vitamin routine is to take them at the same time every day. This will help you build a normal schedule so you won't forget easily.

4. Consider taking your vitamins with food

It depends on the vitamin, but it can be helpful to take your pills before or after you eat a meal. For some vitamins, eating food is required to help your stomach settle and digest. If your stomach is sensitive, you may want to stay on the safe side and eat with your daily vitamin.

5. Keep your vitamins secure

Whether it's your bathroom cabinet or your bedroom, make sure to keep your pill bottles in a high-up place that's out of sight as part of your vitamin regimen. This helps keep them out of the way of curious children or pets that can be in danger if they eat a large number of vitamins or multivitamins. Keep your vitamins somewhere safe and safely discard your expired medicine through take-back programs like those offered by the DEA.

6. Don't use vitamins in place of food

It may seem like common sense, but make sure not to take vitamins in place of food. Vitamins, no matter how many nutrients they provide, are not meant to be taken in place of food. Make sure to eat balanced meals every day and only take vitamins as a supplement to your daily regimen and not the core of it.
